The Seaweed Twist Collection is inspired by the flowing curves of seaweed as it twists and wraps around treasures along the shore. It captures the delicate spray of sea foam and the way barnacles cling to rocks – like the memories we hold on to.
For this bangle, I use the ancient lost wax casting technique. I melt, carve, and shape wax until it feels alive with movement. This is then encased in a plaster mould and heated – the wax melts away and becomes ‘lost’, leaving a perfect cavity to pour the molten silver into. Once cooled, the plaster is broken away to reveal the silver beneath.
This bangle comes in your choice of finish, either a satin white finish whereby I heat the metal one more time – and then immediately quench it in a warm pickling solution. This brings the fine white silver to the surface, giving a natural, satin white finish. Alternatively, I can polish the bangle to a high shine, echoing the feel of a beach treasures shimmering under the sunlight.
