The Seaweed Twist Collection is inspired by the memories made from special moments enjoyed at the beach. From giggling amongst the many types of seaweed as it twists and wraps around your ankles as you paddle along the shore. This collection reignites our senses and keeps our memories close.
For this necklace, I use the ancient lost wax casting technique. I melt, carve, and shape wax until it feels alive with movement. This is then encased in a plaster mould and heated melting the wax and replacing it with molten silver. Once cooled, the plaster is broken away to reveal the silver necklace.
Finally, I hand-pick a naturally formed dendritic agate stone for the necklace. The gem is set into silver sea spray balls, which I created during the casting process. Delicate, seaweed-like patterns seem to grow naturally within the stone, like tiny pieces of seaweed frozen in time.
You can wear this beautiful necklace to remind you of coastal foliage and the hidden textures of the shoreline. When I use dendritic agate, I’m inspired to create jewellery that feels organic and timeless, a keepsake that carries the beauty of the natural world wherever you go.
