Seaweed Twist and Anenome Pink Rough Ruby Teardrop Silver Stud Earrings

This collection takes inspiration from the wild array of colourful treasure found on visits to the ocean.  Each piece is made to become part of your story, carrying memories and moments that matter the most.

For these earrings, I use the ancient lost wax casting technique. I hand carve, manipulate and melt wax, inspired by twisting seaweed, sprays of fresh sea air and seaside walks. This is then encased in a plaster mould and heated – the wax melts away and becomes ‘lost’, leaving a perfect cavity to pour the molten silver into. Once cooled the silver treasure is unveiled.

I heat the metal one more time – and then immediately quench it in a warm pickling solution. This brings the fine white silver to the surface, giving a natural, satin white finish.

I hand-pick ethically sourced natural rough ruby stones for each earring. The gems are set into a bespoke silver claw, perfectly following the unique shape of each stone. I love working with natural rough rubies because their untouched, raw beauty feels so genuine. Each ruby I use has its own unique texture and deep pink hues that remind me of treasures found along the shore.
