Coral Oval Etched Silver Medium Cufflinks

The Coral Collection was my first, inspired by travels and the sound of coral tinkling beneath waves as they met the shore. I’ve always been fascinated by the layered textures of coral rich with intricate detail.

For these cufflinks, I use a technique called ‘acid etching’ to create intricate and permanent designs on the surface of the silver. I hand paint a coral-inspired design using a protective varnish and then submerge the cufflinks into an acid solution. This bites into the exposed areas, leaving a recessed pattern.

The silver’s surface texture is beautifully detailed. I repeat this process a couple of times to create the intricate layers and textures found on a coral’s surface. And just like natural coral, every pair of cufflinks are unique.
